Corberán: “It’s time to compete and to give our all”
The coach looks ahead to the game against Deportivo Alavés
Two Valencia CF players made their Champions League debuts on Tuesday night against Chelsea, with both Maxi Gómez and Kang In enjoying minutes in the win at Stamford Bridge.
Gómez did so off the bench, coming on in the 70th minute to replace Kevin Gameiro up top. The Uruguayan was fresh from opening his goalscoring account for Valencia CF, having struck in the previous weekend's fixture at the Camp Nou against FC Barcelona.
Kang In was also brought on as a substitute, as the South Korean talent made a brief cameo in the 90th minute.
The appearance set a new record for the club: At 18 years, 6 months and 28 days, Kang In is the youngest foreign player to debut for VCF in the Champions League, ahead of Sunny Sunday (19 years and 1 day), Danilo Barbosa (19 years, 7 months and 1 day) and Sissoko (19 years, 7 months and 23 days). Overall, only Raúl Albiol, Aaron Ñíguez and Rafa Mir have played for Valencia CF in the top European competition at a younger age.
